BANDOS MALDIVES TO HOST THE SECOND EDITION OF MALDIVES TRAVEL CONFERENCE

10th September 2017, Anantara Dhigu, Maldives: MATATO signs with Bandos Maldives to host the second edition
of Maldives Travel Conference in November 2017. The official signing took place at a corporate evening hosted for
Travel Awards sponsors and partners in Anantara Dhigu Resort Maldives.


This year’s travel conference is themed under Sustainability and Tourism to complement with Tourism Sustainability
Year marked by UNWTO. NATATO will be inviting leading executives and entrepreneurs of the industry to join the
conversation on sustainability together with a lineup of speakers from abroad, representing the leading global tourism
institutes and organizations.


First launched in 2016, as part of Maldives Travel Awards, Maldives Travel Conference was launched with the intention
of creating a platform in Maldives to lead international dialogue and debate on challenges and opportunities that the
tourism industry unfolds. In 2016 MATATO the conference focused on four main topics with the importance of promoting
the Maldives overseas, changes to the nation’s luxury travel industry, the ongoing transformation of the archipelago’s
tourism sector, and the opportunities and challenges faced by the industry. The discussion of each topic was
carried out by a separate panel of four veterans. Key note speakers for the conference featured prominent personalities
from travel industry representing international organizations and institutes, CNN, TTG Asia, TripAdvisor and PATA. PATA
CEO Mario Hardy was one of the keynote speakers and panelists for the 2016 conference. More than 150 travel
professionals.


Maldives Travel Conference 2017 will be held in November a day ahead of the Travel Awards Gala function. Registration
is now open for travel professional to attend this conference, and MATATO expects an audience more than 250 people
to attend the conference this year.


At the corporate evening hosted today in Anatara Dhigu Maldives, MATATO also signed agreements with seven other
partner companies for Maldives Travel Awards 2017.
